Have you lost your Diva-ness?

DIVA the good four-letter word! A confident woman who is strong in her faith, blessed by her family, and encourages others to rise up to their greatest potential. ~ Kelli Claypool

As women, we are surrounded with so many obligations that we tend to lose sight of who we really are.  When we get married, we are known as so-and-so’s wife.  When we have children, we are known as “mom”.  We are the daughter, the sister, the girlfriend, the housekeeper, the cook, the taxi driver, the referee, the homework helper, the bath-time police, the dog groomer, the Sunday School teacher, the family counselor, the employee, employer…the list just goes on and on.  After awhile we forget that we are a real person.

Well Diva, sit up straight, shoulders back, and put your favorite stilettos on, because YOU ARE PRICELESS! You are deserving! You are beautiful! You are a hand-crafted masterpiece!

Can You Say “Fart” Without Laughing? (Repost)

I am re-posting this blog because the link in the last post did not work.  The poem in the blog that I am referring too is just WAY to funny to not share it with you. So, here it goes again!

OMG Divas! I am laughing so hard that my belly hurts! You see, I needed a break from working on a client’s project so I went “blog surfing”. Upon my journey, I stumbled upon this guy’s blog that caught my attention. The title to his blog was Scratch N’ Sniff.

Well, I’m of the age where I remember the stickers that you could buy that were…well, ‘scratch and sniff’. It brought back many wonderful childhood memories of collecting the stickers and putting them into my sticker books. I just loved my sticker books. I treasured them. Then finding my pesky little brother tearing them out one by one…I just wanted to kill him, but I knew my mom would get mad and I would be in BIG trouble…I always seemed to get in trouble over my brother because I was the big sister and I had to set the example. Oh wow…where was that going? Do I need therapy? I think I went back WAY too far in my childhood memories. Ouch! Sorry about that…okay back to my funny finding!

stinkyWhen I started to read this “Scratch N’ Sniff” blog, I found that he wrote a poem about Thanksgiving night. You just have to read this blog. It’s classic! You will laugh so hard because it rings true in EVERY relationship. Brian Shaw certainly has a way with words and this is a blog that I will certainly bookmark!

Thanks Brian for being so creative!

Now, go visit Brian’s blog and be sure to leave him a comment and tell him that Kelli Claypool sent you his way. I don’t get any brownie points for sending you but at least he will know where you came from. 🙂

Dimples and Toolbelts…Oh my!

Girlfriends, to be a true DIVA you have to be able to do a lot of things.  One of my greatest passions are  POWER TOOLS.  Yes, I do have a hot pink toolbelt with matching hot pink stilettos!  Did you think any differently?  Every opportunity that I get to watch “Cool Tools” on HGTV, I do.  Well, in one particular episode the host talked about a new tool called “The Stiletto Dimpler“.  Needless to say, that name alone caught my attention.  Any tool that has “stiletto” in it’s name…I’ve got to have!

The tool is pretty cool in that when removing a nail from a piece of wood, the Stiletto Dimpler puts an indented ring around the nail head so that the nail can be removed without splintering the wood.  It’s a neat tool with a DIVA name…I like that!

So for all you toolbelt divas out there, check out this tool.  Also, send us a comment on what tool you like, we would like to hear from you!

Until next time…wear your heels well!

Raw Meat Makes Me Want To Throw-Up!

The other day I was talking to my stepmom who is as southern as they come.  She loves working outside in her garden, loves horses, and is just an all around wonderful lady.  Well, during our conversation, she told me that a family would be dropping off some chickens so I assumed that she was going to start raising chickens.  That was not the case!  The family was dropping the chickens off so that she could ring their necks and pluck them!  All I can say is…..G-R-O-S-S!!  Just the thought of it makes me want to throw-up!! While I love meat and will not turn down a good steak, I cannot look at raw meat.  Just being in the meat section, at a local grocery store, grosses me out!

This past Monday (Memorial Day), I thought that I would be a good wife and make dinner for my darling hubby.  Afterall, he does ALL of the cooking as I was not made to be in the kitchen.  Let’s just say the fire department is on speed dial when I try to cook.  It’s not pretty!  Anyway, back to my story, I decided that I was going to make a pork roast in the crockpot…not hard, right?  Well, it was because I had to handle the raw meat!  So, I put on a pair of rubber gloves and goggles and proceeded to wash the meat, put a pork rub on it and placed it in the crockpot.

This was all done, of course, in a lovely pair of pink stilettos!

My husband thought I was crazy, but got a good laugh while watching me attempt to make him dinner.  He especially got a thrill out of the rubber gloves and goggles.  Hey, a diva has got to protect herself, right?  I gladly turned the kitchen back over to him on Tuesday!!

So girlfriend, try something new today.  Just remember to wear your high-heels and definitely wear gloves…you don’t want to get your hands dirty and ruin those lovely nails!!

Until next time…wear your heels well!!
